Big Bass
Learn to read bass clef, starting from zero
Big Bass teaches you to read bass clef in 15 lessons that assume no prior knowledge. You begin with how tab works and move through the staff to your first sight-read.
The Reading music course and Daily read are included without Pro. Quizzes along the way ask you to name the note, find it on the neck and count the beats.
How Big Bass does it
- Start with how tab works, then the staff and the bass clef.
- Learn line and space notes and ledger lines.
- Work through note values, rests, time signatures, sharps and flats, and dotted notes.
- Reach your first sight-read, and test yourself with the quizzes.
- Do Daily read: 20 quick sight-reading questions a day, with missed notes coming back more often.
Questions
How do I connect notes to the fretboard?
The Neck shows any root and one of 8 scales across frets 0 to 12, and you can tap a note to hear it. Daily neck, a Pro feature, adds 20 fretboard questions a day.
Can I read notation inside regular lessons?
Yes. Every lesson can show Tab, Notes or Both, so you can use tab until you feel ready.
Does it include a metronome?
Yes. It runs from 30 to 260 bpm, with tap tempo, 2 to 7 beats per bar and subdivisions.
