One Big Camera is a dual-camera capture and editing app. The short version: your photos and videos stay on your device unless you choose to share them, and we do not sell your data or track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your device
Everything you capture and create — photos, videos, dual-camera composites, trims, voiceovers, combined clips, and the projects you organize them into — is stored locally on your device. We do not upload, copy, or have access to your media. When you save a photo or video, it goes to your own Photos library. When you share a clip, it goes wherever you send it.
If you turn on the geo-tag setting, your location is embedded into the photos and videos you save — exactly like Apple's built-in Camera app. That location data stays in your own media on your device; it is not sent to us. You can turn geo-tagging on or off at any time in the app's settings.
What is sent off your device
Four limited, anonymous things leave the device:
- Anonymous usage ping (via PulseKit). Once a day, the app sends a single "app was opened" ping so we can count active users. It contains a random install identifier (not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier / IDFA, not your name) plus the app version and iOS version. It is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
- Purchase relay (via PulseKit). If the app offers in-app purchases in the future and you make one, the Apple-signed transaction details (product identifier, transaction identifier, and date) are relayed to our sales dashboard so we can see the sale. This contains no payment card details and no personal identity. (The app has no in-app purchases at this time.)
- A daily subscription-status snapshot — if the app offers a subscription, once a day PulseKit also reports whether a subscription is currently active and which plan, keyed to the same random install identifier and never linked to your identity, so we can count active subscribers in aggregate. If the app has no subscription, nothing is sent here.
- Feedback you choose to send. If you use the in-app feedback form, the message you write is sent to our support backend, along with your device model and iOS version to help us reproduce issues. This is only sent when you tap send. It is not linked to your identity unless you include identifying details in your message yourself.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use tracking or advertising SDKs, and we do not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
- We do not collect your contacts, browsing history, or precise identity.
- We do not upload or store your photos and videos on our servers.
Permissions the app requests
- Camera — to capture photos and videos with the front and back cameras.
- Microphone — to record audio with your videos and narration; only used while you are recording video.
- Photo Library (add only) — to save the media you capture to your library.
- Location (while using the app) — only if you enable geo-tagging, to embed location into media you save. Used on-device only.
You can change any of these in iOS Settings at any time.
Account and data deletion
The app has no account and no sign-in. Because your media and library live on your device, you delete your data by deleting clips in the app or by removing the app, which removes its on-device storage. The anonymous daily ping and any feedback you already sent cannot be tied back to you to "delete," because they are not linked to your identity.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
