Questions
How is the stitch count worked out?
Stitches divided by swatch width gives stitches per inch or centimeter. That number times your target width, rounded to the nearest whole stitch, is your count. Rows work the same way with length.
Can my gauge and my target use different units?
Yes. Set the unit for each one separately and the calculator converts, using 2.54 centimeters to the inch.
Why does my project come out a different size?
Gauge changes with yarn, hook or needle, and tension, and stitch patterns may need a particular multiple. Measure a washed swatch and adjust the count to suit your pattern.
Does it save anything?
No. The numbers stay on this page in your browser and are gone when you leave.
